An animated short-film anthology, Yao-Chinese Folktales 2 consists of nine stylistically diverse shorts: Worship the Mountain, The Great Benefactor, The Big Bird, The Ear Man, Today’s Zoo, How to Become Three Dragons, Sanlang, Xingtian, and Xiao Xue. Twelve directors continue the Chinese imagination while exploring diverse subjects and styles, digging into Chinese core expression, and strengthening realistic resonance and allegory. In a fantastical context, the films examine real-world issues and reflect on self-identity, family, and social relations. The anthology began streaming exclusively on Bilibili on January 1, 2026. By July 28, 2026, it had amassed 97.134 million views, with 6.796 million users following the series and 226,000 danmaku comments. It debuted with ratings of 8.5 on Douban and 9.5 on Bilibili. It has been highly praised by Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily, Xinhuanet, Guangming Daily, and Jiefang Daily, and covered by AP, The Globe and Mail, and other overseas media, with over 110 trending topics across platforms.
