Mulan in Red: She Dares to Conquer the World

She was not born a hero, but was simply a daughter who took her father's place in war. Adapted from the Northern Dynasty folk song, this illustration follows Mulan's ten-year journey through conflict and triumph, stripping away the legendary myth to reveal a deeply human figure filled with doubt, vulnerability, and strength. Crafted over three years by Ye Luying, 28 hand-drawn original artworks draw inspiration from Han Dynasty sculptures and engraved stones, using watercolor and mixed media to infuse this legendary tale with modern life.
